Kate's work is gradual, precise and intentional; typically deep and connective tissue oriented. She thrives in work that is challenging to her and beneficial to the client, obtaining optimal results in a short period of time. Her knowledge in Anatomy & Physiology and Kinesiology aids in her ability to assess situations and develop an appropriate treatment plan for her clients.
Whether in the treatment room, or in a classroom setting, Kate believes there is always room for more knowledge.
Additional studies over the years have included, but not limited to: Aromatherapy, Herbal Medicine, Craniosacral Therapy, Biofield Tuning, Shiatsu, Nutrition, Barefoot massage, Pre-natal massage and Doula training, Bamboo massage, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Hot Stone massage, Reiki, Cupping, Reflexology, Sports Psychology
Kate attended Finger Lakes Community College with the intention of being a Physical Education teacher and graduated with an A.S. in Physical Education, an A.A. in Athletic Training and a Coaching Certificate.
Initially she was interested in learning massage to work with athletes on sports teams, so she went to Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY. Once she was introduced to the world of alternative health, there was no turning back.
A few years after graduating massage school, she moved to Vermont. The majority of time was spent in the Stowe area, working as a massage therapist at a few resorts and enjoying the outdoors in the beautiful Green Mountains. Working in the spa industry certainly had its ups and downs, but it provided her the opportunity to work with like-minded people from all over the country and the world. In that environment, massage therapists constantly feed off each other: learning, teaching, practicing- improving their own skills.
In addition to working as a massage therapist, Kate became a Wellness Committee member for a small company. The committee implemented weekly wellness tips for employees, and organized and launched a wellness fair spotlighting local health educators and practitioners.
Kate returned to school to complement her studies and interests thus far and graduated with a B.S. in Health Sciences from Johnson State College in Johnson, VT.
In 2014, she moved back to her hometown of Fairport, NY and opened her private practice located at East Side Wellness Center. When she's not working, Kate is spending time with friends, family and her rescue dog, Simon. Most recently Kate has been busy creating herbal and aromatherapy products for her new business, Sacred Root Medicinals. She also enjoys live music, kayaking, reading, hiking, camping, biking, skiing/snowboarding, and cooking.
